Working with a world leading development company our specialist design and build team was commissioned to design, manufacture and install a single curved glass dome this unique sporting clubhouse.
Measuring 5,000mm in diameter and with a vertical height of 1,000mm the rooflight weighed in excess of 1200kg. The rooflight design consisted of 16 facets each made of 2 no glass units with a central transom, The glass was supported with an internal polyester powder coated box section frame and external level flashing all to create a flush silicone filled external surface.
The single curved design allows from the glass to be curved from the cill to the apex but with the glass supplied faceted in plan, this in turn allowed us to supplied the glass with a tough end outer pane, argon filled cavity and toughened/laminated low e inner which not only gives great thermally and light transmittance properties but also complies with a burglar resistance rating P4A to EN356. Whilst an option for a dual curved dome can be supplied clients must be aware to the greatly increased lead time and cost over the more commonly specified single curved option.
